What to Expect

When You Arrive for an Ultrasound

When you arrive for your pet's ultrasound at our Saratoga Springs facility, our front desk team will welcome you, check you in, confirm your information, and have you complete a short consent form.

A licensed technician or assistant will then bring your pet to the ultrasound room while you relax in our lounge with complimentary snacks and beverages. A small area of fur on your pet’s belly will be shaved for clear imaging. Some nervous or tense pets may need light sedation to help them relax. During the exam, your pet will rest comfortably on a padded table or trough.

Ultrasounds typically take 20–30 minutes. Once complete, you’ll meet with Dr. Ryan in a private consultation room to review the results, ask questions, and discuss next steps such as additional testing or treatment.

Most appointments, from check-in to consultation, are finished in under an hour. A detailed written report will be sent to your primary care veterinarian within 24 hours. Echocardiogram results also include a cardiologist’s written consultation, available within 3–5 business days.
